When the bell rings at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, August 5th, fight fans know that they’re going to be in for a wild ride. The YouTuber turned prizefighter has begun to build a reputation – in some circles – as a decent fighter, while his opponent is as hard as they come, and a legend of the UFC. Whatever happens on Saturday night, it’s going to be epic.
Nate Diaz is a UFC icon
There are a select group of fighters who immediately come to mind when one thinks of the UFC, and it would be silly to not count Nate Diaz among them. The 38-year-old California native is one of the most durable fighters that the MMA scene has witnessed in many years and despite the fact that he’s never actually won a title, is widely considered one of the promotion’s most dangerous men. From Connor McGregor to Tony Ferguson, there are few big names that Diaz hasn’t tussled with and every single one of them will likely have not-so-nice memories of those clashes. Where titles are concerned, Diaz had his best chance when he faced Benson Henderson for the UFC Lightweight Championship back in December 2012. Sadly, he was unable to make good on his promise that day and quite frankly, never had such a clear-cut opportunity again.
